Turkish Airlines is the national flag carrier airline of Turkey, headquartered at the Turkish Airlines General Management Building on the grounds of Atatürk Airport in Ye?ilköy, Bak?rköy, Istanbul.
As of February 2015, it operates scheduled services to 280 destinations in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, making it the fourth-largest carrier in the world by number of destinations. Turkish Airlines is also the operator that flies to most countries. With an operational fleet of ten cargo aircraft, the airline's cargo division serves 52 destinations. With Istanbul Atatürk Airport being the main base, the Turkish carrier has secondary hubs at Esenbo?a International Airport, Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, and Adnan Menderes Airport. Turkish Airlines has been a member of the Star Alliance network since 1 April 2008.
In 2006, 2007 and 2008, THY carried 17 million, 19.7 million and 22.5 million passengers with total revenues of US$2.23, US$3.0 and US$4.5 billion, respectively. THY is estimated to carry 25 million passengers in 2009, and it is projected to be Europe's 4th biggest airline in terms of passengers carried in 2009. The airline has more than 12,000 employees. As of 1 April 2008, THY is a member of Star Alliance.
