JetLite, formerly Air Sahara, is an airline based in Mumbai, India. Owned by Jet Airways, the airline has its main hub in Indira Gandhi International Airport , secondary hubs in Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport and focus cities in Bengaluru International Airport, Chennai International Airport, Cochin International Airport, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
The airline was established on 20 September 1991 and began operations on 3 December 1993. Initially services were primarily concentrated in the northern sectors of India, keeping Delhi as its base, and then operations were extended to cover all the country. Sahara Airlines was rebranded as Air Sahara on 2 October 2000, although Sahara Airlines remains the carrier"s registered name. On 22 March 2004 it became an international carrier. In 2006, Jet Airways finally succeed in buying out Air Sahara and renamed it as JetLite. Jet Lite will cease to exist as a separate airline and will be merged into Jet Konnect brand effective 25 March 2012.
The airline operates scheduled services connecting metropolitan centres in India, including 110 flights daily. The airline also provides helicopters which are available for charter services and aerial photography. It also flies to Kathmandu â€“ Tribhuvan Airport (Nepal).
