Belavia Airlines is the national airline company of Belarus, headquartered in Minsk. The state-owned company is the Belarusian flag carrier. Its base is Minsk International Airport.
Belavia was officially founded on 5 March 1996 in accordance with a resolution of the Belarusian Government when the local Aeroflot division was nationalized and renamed. Between then and 1998 Belavia opened regular routes to Beijing, Istanbul, Larnaca, London, Prague, and Rome. On August 12, 1997 Belavia became a full member of the International Air Transport Association. The expansion of the flights geography continued in 1998 as well.In 1998, Belavia merged with Minsk Avia, acquiring several Antonov An-24, Antonov An-26 and Yakovlev Yak-40 aircraft in addition to existing fleet of Tupolev Tu-134 and Tupolev Tu-154 airplanes.
In 2004, Belavia further extended operations and acquired one more Boeing 737. In 2010, Belavia signed a bilateral interline-agreement with the American airline company Delta for the dynamic development of the partnership. The airline company â€œTatarstanâ€ became another partner, with whom an interline-agreement was signed.
Belavia serves a network of routes between European cities and the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as some Middle East destinations, Asia, Europe and Africa
The current Belavia fleet consists of: 4 Boeing 737-300, 6 Boeing 737-500, 1 Boeing 737-BBJ2, 1 Challenger 850, 4 Bombardier CRJ200 and 3 Tupolev Tu-154M.
