The airline was established on 1 January 1989 and started operating one year later. In November 2000 it changed its name from Compagnie Corse Mediterranee to CCM Airlines, then to Air Corsica in October 2010. A partnership with Air France has been developed and the network expanded.

The airline is owned by CollectivitÃ© Territoriale de Corse (60.37%), Air France (11.94%), CrÃ©dit Agricole (7.55%), SNCM (6.68%) and the remainder with 6 smaller investors.
Air Corsica flies from five provincial cities in France as well as the capital, Paris to all four corners of Corsica: Calvi in the north, Ajaccio in the west, Figari in the south and Bastia in the east. The airline is primarily serving the leisure market. International scheduled destination is to Venice
