Japan airlines flights, discount low cost fare

Japan domestic flight is dominated by two airlines giants JAL Group and the ANA Group, who operate daily flights in over 50 airports across the country. Moreover, several other smaller airline carriers are competing with JAL and ANA on the most popular routes.

Main Airlines Carriers

1. JAL Group (Japan Airlines) - or JAL, is an airline of Japan. It is the largest airline operator in Asia. It is based in Tokyo, Japan, operating scheduled and non-scheduled international and domestic services.

2. ANA Group (All Nippon Airways) - also known as Zennikkū , Zennikkū or ANA, is an airline headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. It is the country’s second-largest domestic and international airline after Japan Airlines. It operates services to 50 destinations in Japan and 22 international routes. ANA employed 22,170 staff as of March 2007.

3. Skymark Airlines - is an airline headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. It operates scheduled passenger services on Japan’s regional routes and international charter flights to Seoul. Its main base is Tokyo International Airport (Haneda).

4. Hokkaido International Airlines, also known as Air Do is a Japanese low-cost airline. Based in Sapporo, Hokkaido, it operates between Tokyo and cities in Hokkaido. Its main base is Tokyo International Airport in Ōta, Tokyo.

5. Skynet Asia Airways Co., Ltd. is a low-cost airline based in Miyazaki City, Japan. It operates services mainly between Miyazaki/Kumamoto/Nagasaki and Tokyo. Beginning September 2007, flights to Kagoshima will be introduced.

6. Ibex Airlines Co., Ltd is an airline based in Tokyo, Japan. It operates domestic services from Tokyo. Its main base is Sendai Airport, Natori, Miyagi.

7. StarFlyer Inc. is an airline based in Kitakyushu, Japan. It is modeled after JetBlue Airways as a “low-cost, high-quality” carrier aimed at business and leisure travelers.

Fares and Discounts

Both JAL and ANA offers discount fares for domestic routes, especially for foreign travelrs. Around 20 percent less than JAL Group and ANA, Discount airlines such as Air Do on the Tokyo -Sapporo route and Skymark Airlines on the Tokyo-Fukuoka Kagoshima routes, offer many of the same type of discounts as JAL and ANA, but prices are usually around 20 percent less.
