History
After the liberation of Ethiopia from the Italian occupation, Ethiopian Air Lines was founded on 21 December 1945, with aid from both Transcontinental Air Transport and Western Air Express and commenced operations on 8 April 1946. By then, the airline has continuously developed its flight network. In 1953, The Ethiopian government negotiated and new agreement with TWA with ultimate aim of operating entirely with Ethiopian personnel. The first jet service was inaugurated in 1963 and the firm changed from a corporation to a share company in 1965. It also changed its name from Ethiopian Air Lines to Ethiopian Airlines. The 1970s saw the arrival of new aircrafts. The airline is a Star Alliance member, the 28th overall worldwide, and the third African-based carrier

It serves as the country's flag carrier, and is wholly owned by the Government of Ethiopia. Likewise, it is one of the few Sub-Saharan profitable airlines, as well as one the fastest growing airlines in the industry.l
